Medical device ideas with great potential are regularly generated by the University of Pennsylvania community, but it is often difficult to marshal the initial resources and infrastructure necessary to further develop and commercialize them. DevelUPmed, a PCI program managed by the PCI Ventures team, identifies medical device and diagnostic technologies with commercial potential and accelerates them from idea to prototype stage and beyond through a startup company mechanism. The best ideas as judged by outside business experts and investors will be turned into companies, founded by the inventor team and Penn. The new entities will be partnered with university resources, entrepreneurs, industry developers, intellectual property firms, regulatory and reimbursement experts, and regional investors to better support medical device commercialization.
DevelUPmed is excited to announce a collaboration with the Center for Health Care Innovation and the Office of the Chief Scientific Officer at the Perelman School of Medicine to provide the Penn community with significant additional resources to promising medical device technologies.
